Berlin TXL – Where history, present and future all meet.
Tegel Airport is closed. As of now, a new chapter has begun. The city of tomorrow begins right here, in the middle of the capital!
Over the next few years, a research and industrial park for urban technologies will be built on the site: Berlin TXL - The Urban Tech Republic, a new residential district: the Schumacher Quarter and a large landscape area.
The guided tour of the former airport invites anyone interested to experience the site from a new perspective and discover the unknown. The walk leads along the iconic architecture of the building ensemble designed by Meinhard von Gerkan, Volkwin Marg and Klaus Nickels (gmp) and built from 1969 to 1975, opening up a fascinating panorama of the airfield. The historical and architectural significance of the monument is comprehensively presented in dialogue with the planned subsequent use as an innovation location.
Starting in May 2022, the following tours are offered:
Every Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 and 14:00
